The coming hunting season
As summer starts to hit hard, making me sweat in the strangest places, I begin to think about this approaching hunting season. The way summers have gone for my entire life, fall will be here before I know it. Therefore, I need to start preparing now, lest I only bag one deer like last year.
This time, I want my son and I to take our limit of deer. Maybe duck, too. Today I came up with a short list of gear that I need to get before the fall.
- New archery target — got to get those arrows hitting the mark
- Arrows
- Slings for my and my son’s shotguns
- A Rifle suitable for taking deer at 100 – 200 yards
- Guthook knife for ease of field dressing
- Large cooler to age and drain of blood the quartered deer
- A Food Saver kit (those vacuum pack bags)
- Tanning supplies (not for me, for the buck skin)
- Duck call DVD so I can learn how to do it properly
- Waders, since I don’t have a boat and need some way of retrieving the ducks
I’m sure that I’ll need more than that, but it’s a decent list.
